HIGHLY EFFICIENT FIRE-EXTINGUISHING POWDER

Fire-extinguishing powders based on ammonium phosphates (FEP) have a high specific fire-extinguishing ability. However, during storage, their technical characteristics deteriorate, which reduces the efficiency to extinguish fire. To solve this problem, authors considered promising direction for improving properties of FEP by using superhydrophobic functional additives silicon dioxide particles. The paper discusses methods manufacturing powder particles with different textural and structural apparent contact angles more than 160°. Based results rheological tests, main (particle size, shape, angle) were determined. Their influence was proven. It shown that addition modified monodisperse spherical (~55nm) into provides flowability, superhydrophobicity (apparent angel 168°) low moisture absorption. developed additive made it possible manufacture demonstrates best among analogues efficiency, resistance flowability.
